The Petrol make from the crude oil. More than 80% Of crude oil is Import From out side of india. The crude oil is buy in belarus . The price of one belar (159 liter) in india 86.75 $. Then crude oil refine and obtain Petrol which price at 30- 40 Rupies. Now The Central Goverment Tax Is Apply on it's which is 19.84 - 20 rupies. Then The dealer Tax 3- 4 Rupies and State goverment Tax is applied. so the Price of petrol is 70-80 Rupies Now day.
But 2012-2013 The price of crude oil 118 $ and tax low so the price was low.but then crude oil price down and tax incerase so he price of petrol is stable during 2014 , 2015 , 2016.
At that time Government collect Tax of 99184 cr .
In 2017-18 Tax collect by Government 242691 cr.
